The beer club rating system is simple and effective. Originally we had decided to do a straight copy of the rating system used by international wine testers but quickly decided that theirs just didn't cut the mustard when it came to the nectar of the gods. So we did what any bunch of blokes would do... we got pissed and invented our own.

What does it look like ?

Well, we decided a score from 100 would be ideal because its simple to express that as a percentage and with that in mind we came up with five categories worth 20 points each.

Color: How does the beer color compare with other beers of the same style? Does the color appeal to the eye ?

Smell: Do you like the smell? Is it fruity, hopsy, malty, nutty or something else?

Taste: The initial taste as the beer first hits your pallette after a good swig.

Body: Take a big mouthful. How does the beer feel? Is it thick, light, airy, creamy or something else?

Aftertaste: Take a swig of beer and swallow it, count to three and take note of the aftertaste. Is it horribly bitter, clean, light, hopsy, smooth, etc ?

Score each catergory out of twenty then add your scores together for a percentage. Its dead easy.
